According to orthodox beliefs, Shaolin Systems fall into two major divisions: Those that support Northern Shaolin and those that make Southern Shaolin the center of their activity. Northern Shaolin is believed to have originated at the Hunan Temple, while Southern Shaolin is believed to have come from the Fukien Temple. In their basic technique patterns, both Northern and Southern brands of Shaolin make use of the five animal fist forms: Dragon, Crane, Tiger, Snake, and Leopard.

Being evolved from the Shanghai area of China, our system of Gong Yuen Chuan Fa Pai Pao Lung Gar utilizes both northern and southern styles.

It is generally accepted that northern styles maintain more kicking techniques and the southern styles excel in the hand techniques. We are a natural blend of Lohan, Plum Flower, Five Animal Fists, and Quan Nien Chi Kung. As mentioned earlier, Gong Yuen Chuan Fa Pai Pao Lung Gar has a strong tie to both northern and southern training philosophies. We execute strong powerful kicks and lightning fast hand techniques. We also are one of the few systems that have and teach traditional Lohan sets such as; 18 Hands of Lohan, Lohan Flowering Spear, and more. These are a part of our required learning. The virtues taught in the northern and southern schools are very evident in the development of our most unique system.

Gong Yuen Chuan Fa teaches the balance of body and mind in a natural composure. For those two are inseparable and have an everlasting effect on each other. To achieve the nature of complete wholeness, one must find a true balance and train accordingly. To train the mind and not the body would leave the practitioner physically weak. To train the body and not the mind would leave a void most needed to achieve the status of WARRIOR. Among animals, the survival of the fittest is law. Among people, those who triumph are those who excel both physically and mentally. So not only is Gong Yuen Chuan Fa an excellent form of conditioning the body and a proven form of self-defense, it is also a standard by which one can live.
